Put it on an Angle

Hi everybody! Did you play along with the "Put it on an Angle" challenge yet? This one was fun for me. I have been pondering on using an X in my layout designs, and this offered the perfect opportunity.

I decided to hand stitch an X shape on some white cardstock to start. I sketched out the general outline I wanted, and then just stitched on an angle. I then cut out the X and mounted it all on this gorgeous piece of patterened paper from Pinkfresh's A Case of the Blahs collection. I also used some heart stickers and fussy cut the houses from another piece of patterned paper from the same collection.

Do You Feel Lucky?

Hi everybody! I'm playing along with the "Do You Feel Lucky?" challenge today. I had so much fun with this layout, mostly because I am absolutely in love with the A Case of the Blahs collection by Pinkfresh Studio. I adore the black and white papers paired with bright colors. Here's my layout:

I did some crazy stitching with pieces of leftover twine that have been hanging around my scrap room forever and a day. I also cut hearts out of the patterned paper and put them together to make shamrocks.

Swanky Swatches

I am so excited to come and share with you my take on Paper Issues’ new challenge: Swanky Swatches! For this challenge, you can take inspiration from the color scheme shown here:

I definitely loved this color scheme as soon as I saw it. I searched through my stash and found some papers that worked perfectly. I used up a lot of leftovers on this layout. It has bits of Pink Paislee, American Crafts, and some Crate Paper.

Because I am a big weirdo, I love using geometric-ish elements on my layouts. Hence the arrows and parabolic curve (that’s a fancy word for: I used straight lines to make a curve. You’re welcome).

Hi everybody! Can you believe February is upon us already? Since it’s the dead of winter here, I’m dreaming about green grass, warmer temperatures, and outdoor adventures! For this layout, I decided to feature a photo of the beautiful landscape near my home in the Appalachian Mountains. I also used one of my favorite quotes, “The mountains are calling, and I must go.”

For this layout, I used the gorgeous Good Vibes collection by Crate Paper. The bright green makes me want spring to hurry up already! For my title, I hand cut the letters out and covered parts of them with the patterned paper. I started to cover the entire letter, but I just decided I liked the look of them covered only halfway. I also fussy cut some of the patterns from one sheet and used them as embellishments.

Mixing Things Up at Paper Issues

Hi everyone! Please tell me I’m not the only one who has trouble sticking to one collection when they scrap. I just always seem to find myself mixing and matching like a crazy lady. For this layout, I mixed some gorgeous gold-stripe paper by Teresa Collins and some adorable red Christmas-ish paper and black/white plaid paper from the Falala collection by Crate Paper.

I love the look of red and gold together! For this layout, I decided to tackle my arch-nemesis: hand stitching. I really love the look it adds to my layouts, but, man! It takes forever and a day! I will also go ahead and confess: I am terrible at this! It looks ok from the front, but the back of my layout is hilarious, full of piles of tangled thread and knots galore. Good thing no one will look at the back. At least, let’s hope so! I’ll spare you any more of the gory details, but it ain’t pretty, people!

This layout features a photo of my son, who has just changed so much recently that it’s scary. Why on earth do they have to grow up so quickly? It just isn’t fair.

I decided to do one of my favorite designs, a sunburst. The rays of paper are fairly easy to make by creating a long rectangle, and then cutting it on a diagonal. It gives you a nice, long triangle to use for a sun ray.

Scraplifting wtih Paper Issues

Today, I am digging myself out from the snow that trapped me in my house for a week. The good news is that it gave me plenty of scrappy time. In the Paper Issues Friends and Fans group, we are scraplifting the lovely Elodie. Here's her layout: 

I loved the tags. It reminded me that I haven't used those in a while. Here's my take on it: 

I used Crate Paper's Good Vibes collection. I just cut the patterned paper into tag shapes and punched a hole. I also folded the paper over for some dimension.

EEK! I have Paper Issues!

Hi people! I am so tickled to announce that I've joined the design team at Paper Issues! For my first official layout, I am playing along with the January issue. The assignment was to create a layout based on the new year. I chose to create this page based on a new year's resolution, slowing down and spending more time appreciating my many blessings, including this precious boy who is growing up way too fast:
