My First Project for UmWowStudio!

This is my first official post as a member of the team here at UmWowStudio! I was so very excited to finish this first project. I just adore the little guy in this photo. He is such a sweetie. He was using his little ax to help his daddy and grandpa chop up leftover wood after a dead tree was cut down in our yard. And yes, he's in his pajama bottoms and a big puffy coat. It's how we roll.

As soon as I thought about a layout for this photo, I knew I wanted it to have a tree. I used the circle confetti mask to create my tree. I simply laid the mask on my cut out circles and spread some white gesso on there. After that had dried, I was able to use some cheap-o paint from Wal Mart to splatter on top. A few spritzes of water while the paint was wet helped to create a messy look. I also added some flower confetti to my tree for some added dimension. I used the layered banners for my title. I covered them in this adorable paper by Pebbles.

New Challenge at The Studio!

Hi everyone! I am sharing my very last layout as a member of the team at The Studio Challenges. The challenge this time is to create a layout based on something you've had lying around for a while. I've been staring at this orange chevron paper for months now. I love the paper, but just couldn't decide what to put with it. I finally decided to try a little blue and green. It worked!

 Here's a detail shot:

I have enjoyed my time on The Studio team. I wish I could continue, but there's just too much in the works for the coming year! Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

Creative Scrappers Sketch # 285

Hi everyone! I'm just stopping by to share my latest layout. I used sketch #285 from Creative Scrappers. I was so sad to read that they are shutting down, especially since this is my first time playing along there. I have admired their sketches for quite some time and just never got around to doing one. That just goes to show you should always jump in, I suppose!

Anyway, here's the sketch:

And here's my layout:

That's little 'ol me in the photo. I have been trying to get around to scrapping some older family photos, since my son is a preteen now and believes he's too cool to pose for me nowadays!

Paper Issues Sketchy Saturday

Hi everyone! I just stopped by to share a layout I did for the Saturday Sketch at Paper Issues. The sketch is so unique and it really jumped out at me when I saw it.
I just loved the circles. I changed it up a bit and painted the circles in the background, but printed my photos rectangular. I just can't bring myself to use circular photos for some reason. I probably need a support group for that. :) Here's my layout:
These photos are of my little guy sledding down the hill in our yard. He loved it! Of course, it's not often that we get enough snow to sled so we don't own a sled. He and his daddy improvised and made their own.

Thanks for stopping by!

Year in Review Challenge at The Studio

Hi everyone,

I'm here to share my layout for the latest challenge at The Studio Challenges. I hope you can stop by and join in the fun! I looked back over photos from the year and one kept jumping out at me. I realized I hadn't scrapped it for some reason. We had a very snowy winter last year. On this day in particular, my son had the time of his life playing out in the snow. He and his furry friend (Flash, the dog) were so excited about the snow. Well, actually Caleb was excited. Flash wasn't impressed with the white stuff that made his paws cold but he would follow Caleb anywhere. Here's my layout:

There are a few things I just adore about this layout.

1. It gave me an excuse to play with my new India Ink. My sweet mother in law gave me a gift card and this is what I bought. Yay!

2. This photo just makes me smile in general. I mean, happy kid, happy pup, what could be better!

3. It came together without as much fuss as usual. My layout making process tends to be epic. This one was fairly easy!

Happy, Scrappy News!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be able to say that I am officially designing for two great companies! I was asked to be a part of the design team for Scraps of Darkness. I am intimidated by the talent on this team but I'm taking a deep breath and hoping I don't blow it! :) You can meet the rest of the team here.

I was also completely shocked that I was chosen to be on the team for UmWow Studio! Again, the talent level is unreal. I hope I can hang with these ladies! You can see the rest of the team here

Wowsers, that's a whole lotta my face there. lol. Thanks for stopping by! Hope you'll stay tuned for my newest scrappy adventures! Will this mild mannered scrap-a-holic be able to run with the big dogs? Or will she fall flat on her face and have to go into hiding forever? Stay tuned!
